No More Paper Driving Licence From 8th June
The paper driving licence from 8th June is no longer valid and will no longer be issued by DVLA, and drivers from now on will only be issued with a photocard licence. If your licence was issued before 1998 however and you've never been issued with a photocard licence you can continue to use your paper licence until it needs updating.
All future penalty points and endorsements will be added to the DVLA online drivers record which can be viewed online, checked by phone or by post. They can also be 'shared' with third party operators who request them including Car Hire firms and insurance providers.
You can from now view your licence information online by visiting here: https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence, it will include what vehicles you can drive and any penalty points you have.
